The clinical partnership between 69色情片’s College of Nursing (CON) and NorthShore University HealthSystem — and the students who bring the collaboration to regional communities — earned a moment in the media spotlight recently through a “Making a Difference” segment on NBC Chicago.
Reporter Kate Chappell traveled to NorthShore Evanston Hospital on Oct. 24 to meet with Lori Thuente, PhD, RN, who serves as CON founding chair and Master of Science for Entry into Nursing Practice (MENP) program director, and a group of MENP students that included Davon Marshall and Puvi Patel.
“Our students are really lucky in that we have great healthcare systems around here, and they get to train at all those places,” Dr. Thuente said during the segment, which aired on NBC Chicago’s weeknight broadcasts and .
NorthShore is one of several clinical partners with the college and its students. The roster also includes Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center, Northwestern Medicine, Rush Health and Shirley Ryan AbilityLab System.
Working within these health systems, College of Nursing students gain hands-on experience in clinical settings and develop professional relationships with physicians and administrative staff from a variety of disciplines. In addition, the partnerships provide students with access to state-of-the-art technology and cutting-edge medical practices.
