Clinical Assistant Professor

Mary Russell is a registered dietitian nutritionist who retired from full-time work in December 2020. She is an adjunct clinical assistant professor at the Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine and Science. Previously, she held positions as a medical science liaison for Baxter Healthcare, director of nutrition services at two academic medical centers, nutrition support dietitian, clinical dietitian, and medical technologist.

She has been an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics member for 40 years and has held a variety of leadership and other positions in local, state, and national Academy units including the NC, IL, and WI affiliates, the Dietitians in Nutrition Support DPG., and the Disabilities MIG. She served as Academy President in 2018-2019 and received a Medallion Award in 2009.

Current passions include service on the Academy Nominating and Political Action Committees, speaking to students about ethics and civility, seed gathering for the Dane County (WI) park system, food pantry volunteerism, and mentoring.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Marquette University and a Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
