The three -year hematology and medical oncology fellowship program will provide trainees with the professional knowledge and skills and prepare them for careers in clinical consultative practice and prepare them to successfully become eligible for board certification in Hematology and medical Oncology. The ACGME core competencies and milestones are achieved through a required set of rotations, a didactic curriculum and elective rotations designed to broaden the base of knowledge.
Overall Goals and Objectives
The overall goals of this program are to train competent Hematology and Medical Oncology consultants proficient in providing consultative services to a broad range of hematology and medical oncology in the In-patient and Ambulatory setting, supervise and direct management of cancer patients, integrate ancillary services (social services, Palliative care, Hospice) and Integrate system resources in the comprehensive care of Cancer patients (pharmacy, Social services specialty pharmacy, primary care providers and community providers). Heavy emphasis is laid on cultural competence, cost effective delivery of healthcare, patient safety and clinical outcomes in a diverse patient population (racially, ethnically and financially). Each fellow is expected to participate in scholarly activity.
