What is it? Deborah L. Faiman and Dr. Laurence R. Meyerson Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Student Travel Award provides $1000 toward the cost of travel and registration for a student who will be presenting original data at a meeting in the U.S. or Canada. It has been generously funded by Dr. Meyerson, an alumnus of our department who obtained his PhD from the Department of Biochemistry in 1974 and Ms. Faiman, a medical research philanthropist, whose interests include diabetes, neuropathy, metabolic disorders, orphan diseases, obesity and wound healing.
Can I use the Award for any meeting? Yes, but you must anticipate going to a meeting by November 15. We wish to insure that the best application will be awarded the funds in time to attend the desired meeting.
Who is eligible? Any full-time PhD student in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology who have no appointments in colleges other than the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
How do you apply? By submitting a copy of the provisional Abstract you anticipate presenting, along with a 1-page statement describing: 1) your overall contribution to both the development of this project and data collection/analysis, and 2) how these findings advance research in your field.
